Stonehenge

Stonehenge - the mysterious stone structure on Salisbury Plain, inscribed on the World Heritage List. First the researchers associated with the construction of Stonehenge druids. But excavations have pushed the creation of Stonehenge to the Bronze Age.
The legends associated with the name of the construction of Stonehenge wizard Merlin. In the mid-17th century English architect Inigo Jones put forward the theory that Stonehenge was built by the Romans. Some scientists of the Middle Ages believed that Stonehenge was built the Swiss or Germans. In the early 19th century established itself as the version of Stonehenge Druid sanctuary. However, the exact interpretation of this mysterious construction have not found until now.

Approach to the rocks is prohibited. But some tour operators from Salisbury allow.
